The Sauerland Lakes are leisure havens, energy suppliers and vital drinking water storage tanks for millions of people. Therefore: Welcome to a very clean thing. All large Sauerland lakes are not of natural origin, but are so-called dams. Huge dams or dams hold up the water of the rivers, dam it and thus form the lakes.
Lake Sorpesee in Sundern is approximately 12 km from the hotel. With the promenade in Sundern - Langscheid and the air adventure trail in Sundern - Amecke, Mediterranean flair moves into the Sauerland.
Our excursion tip:
You drive from Sundern - Langscheid with the MS Sorpesee to Sundern - Amecke. There you walk along the Amecke air adventure trail. (approx. 3 km or 1 h) In the Airnah Café at the campsite there are delicious homemade cakes and a great view of the lake. Then take the MS Sorpesee back to Langscheid and enjoy a cool drink on the promenade.

The Hennesee in Meschede is the smallest of our four Sauerland reservoirs. It's always a little more cozy here. A walk along the water is just as worthwhile as climbing the 333 steps of the Himmerl staircase at the dam. In warm weather, a detour to the lido is also worthwhile and the terrace of the "H1 am See" with a view of the Hennesee is a stunner.

The Möhnesee north of Arnsberg is about 25 km from the hotel. It is also called the "Westphalian Sea" and is the largest of all reservoirs in the Sauerland.
The dam built in 1913, which was badly damaged by a British air raid on the night of May 16, 1943, is very attractive. In the same year the dam was restored and the reservoir was put into operation.

The Biggesee with its dam in Attendorn is about 40 km south of the hotel. The lake winds through the valleys to Olpe.
It is worth a detour to the "Biggeblick" viewpoint (photo) with a breathtaking view of the Biggesse. You can then take the little "Biggolino" train from the Atta cave in Attendorn to the Biggedamm landing stage and on to the Old Market in Attendorn.
